Cave has state's only underground boat ride

By Billy Joe Fudge

Libby and I recently took a day trip to Bowling Green with our two youngest grandsons, Harrison Knifley and Jackson Hinton. We enjoyed our time together at Lost River Cave, 2818 Nashville RD, Bowling Green, KY.

The boat ride inside the cave was a really neat, fun, and educational experience. The history of the cave, it's many uses over the years and it's importance to both the culture and economy of the area was very interesting.

We, as you might guess, had discussions about the trees with folks from as far away as Northern California to locals who were visiting the cave. The visitors were fascinated with the discussions about the trees and were particularly struck by the colorful names when I identified 4 trees in sequence for them. The four trees were Red Cedar, Osage Orange, Yellow Poplar, and Black Walnut. -Billy Joe Fudge
