Glasgow Musicale kicks of 2010-11 season Sept. 21, 2010 By Linda Hitchcock, President Glasgow Musicale, Glasgow, KY The 2010-2011 season kicks off on September 21, at 6pmCT at The Landing, 6641 Scottsville RD, Glasgow, KY. The theme is Bluegrass and BBQ. This is one of the few events which require a paid reservation as it is a dinner and fundraiser. There will be a barbecue buffet and members hosted dessert bar. Bob and Joanna Harvey and The Forrester Family will provide music. The cost is a $15.00 per person. Paid reservations should be sent to Treasurers Eldon and Faye Smith at "Glasgow Musicale", P O Box 2313, Glasgow, KY 42141-2043. Glasgow Musicale Celebrated its 116th Birthday in 2010. The only requirement for membership in the Glasgow Musicale is to care deeply about music and the joy it brings to people to all ages. Everyone interested in music is invited and welcome to attend scheduled performances. Programs are admission free, open to the public, family friendly, educational and entertaining. Other programs: Other programs in 2010 include "Shaker Music"; "Music for All Ages" performed by entertainers of all ages; and "A Celtic Christmas" arranged and performed by Katie Daniels with Strings of Erin and Friends. Glasgow Musicale's mission includes providing student scholarships for the Stephen Foster Music Camp to help enrich and broaden their world of music as performers and listeners. This year exceeded all expectation. The Glasgow Musicale sponsored 33 Glasgow Independent and Barren County School District students to the 75th annual Stephen Foster Music Camp on the campus of EKU in Richmond, KY. Scholarship assistance totaled $7550, a record amount for Musicale.Even though Glasgow is the smallest city represented in the Kentucky Federation of Music clubs, it had the most student participants with the greatest amount of scholarship dollars by far of any of the clubs. Glasgow Musicale is a non-profit organization and member of the National Federation of Music Clubs, is the oldest music club in Kentucky.
