Hope for Sarah sold 1,271 shirts to date

Tia Smith, the organizer of the Hope for Sarah t-shirt campaign, said that to date, 1,271 shirts have been sold. "And I'm still taking orders," she said.

The shirts were sold at $10 each, which translates to $12,710 for the shirts themselves. The proceeds, after deducting a cost of $5.00 per shirt paid to the screen printer, Hotprints, Columbia, KY, all will be presented to Sarah Irvin-Gardner and her family, the organizer of the event said.

In addition to the net proceeds from the shirt sales, Tia Smith said, there are outright donations, the full amount of which will be given to Sarah. "Many people just gave money, and didn't want a t-shirt," she said. "Some businesses did the same."

Smith plans to present a check for the entire amount to the family shortly, with a final total to be announced at that time.
