Fatality occurs in collisions near Springfield, KY Semi sideswipes two vehicles then collides head on with third, whose driver is killed as a result of the impact; pronounced dead at the scene By TFC Billy Gregory, Public Affairs Officer Kentucky State Police Post 15, Columbia, KY Springfield KY -Sgt. Jamie Heller, Kentucky State Police Post 15, Columbia, KY, is investigating a fatal collision that occurred on Friday, July 16, 2010 at 7:47amET, on US 150, 5 miles east of Springfield, KY. Stephen Sizemore, age 54 of Somerset, KY, was operating a 1999 Peterbuilt Semi when he fell asleep at the wheel, sideswiping a 2011 Toyota Camry operated by Koichi Kaawamur age 29 of Bardstown, KY and a 2000 Nissan Sentra operated by Amanda Joe Trent, age 26 of Bardstown, KY. Sizemore then struck the front of a 2001 Honda operated by Victor Walters, age 45 of Elizabethtown. After striking the front of Walters vehicle, Sizemore's vehicle overturned on top of Walters vehicle trapping Walters inside. Walters was pronounced deceased at the scene by Washington County Coroner Lynn Benedict. Trent was transported to Springview Hospital, Lebanon, KY, where she was treated and released. A passenger in the Kaawamur vehicle was Yoshikazu Yamamoto age 40 of Bardstown and all other drivers were belted and not injured. Sgt Heller was assisted at the scene by CVE officer Cunduff, Trooper Davis, Trooper Cornett, Detective Olsen, Washington County Sheriffs Department, Washington County Fire, Rescue, and EMS and Kentucky Department of Transportation.
