100 Years ago, editor lamented the taking of trees By "Jim" The photo of Columbia's own Death Valley brought to mind this snippet from the July 8, 1909 Adair County News. The "valuable improvements" for which several veteran locust trees gave their lives, were in preparation for the construction of the new Russell & Co. Building, completed in early 1910.
