First & Farmers donates $10,000 to LWC fund Click on headline for story and photo(s) By Duane Bonifer COLUMBIA, KY - First & Farmers National Bank of Columbia calls Lindsey Wilson College one of Columbia-Adair County's greatest assets. That's why the bank recently gave $10,000 to the Lindsey Wilson Fund. The donation will be used to provide scholarship aid for Columbia-Adair County residents to attend Lindsey Wilson. During the 2009-10 school year, more than 350 Columbia-Adair County residents attended LWC. "First & Farmers is proud of its partnership with Lindsey Wilson College, and we are also proud of the strong relationship Lindsey Wilson has with the community," said First & Farmers National Bank President Ann Martin. "The college is a valuable asset to Columbia-Adair County." Lindsey Wilson blue runs in Martin's family. She is a 1975 graduate of the college, and her son Ross is a 2005 Lindsey Wilson graduate who is enrolled dental school at the University of Louisville. Martin also knows Lindsey Wilson's value through the many graduates of the college hired by the bank. "When you stop and look at everything happening here in Columbia-Adair County, Lindsey Wilson has either played a role or is responsible for it," Martin said. "As Lindsey Wilson grows, so grows the community." LWC administrators say they are grateful for the support from First & Farmers National Bank. "For the last 10 years, Lindsey Wilson has been one of Kentucky's fastest-growing colleges or universities," said LWC President William T. Luckey Jr. "A big reason for that growth has been because this college has been blessed to have strong partners such as First & Farmers National Bank. Thanks to our partnership with First & Farmers, Lindsey Wilson can continue to serve our region's education needs." This story was posted on 2010-07-09 04:32:31
