COLUMBIA, KY - Lindsey Wilson College finished 10th in the 2009-10 NAIA Learfield Sports Directors' Cup standings, released on Thursday by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA).

The Blue Raider teams finished with 595 points to earn the program's fifth top-10 finish in the last six seasons.

During the six-year span, Lindsey Wilson has finished a program-best third (2005-06), sixth twice (2006-07 and 2004-05), 25th (2007-08) and 10th twice (2008-09 and 2009-10).

"I am extremely proud of our student-athletes and coaching staff. The consistency in which they continue to excel at the highest level of the NAIA is impressive and a direct reflection of their hard work and dedication," Willis Pooler, Lindsey Wilson's Athletic Director, said, on hearing of the achievement.

Points are awarded by NACDA in 12 sports - six men's and six women's - based on postseason finishes within the NAIA National Championships.

Lindsey Wilson's national-champion men's soccer team and women's golf program earned the most points with 100 and 72, respectively. Women's soccer (70 points), softball (64), men's tennis (53) and women's tennis (53) also completed Top-10 finishes.

Lindsey Wilson finished the fall season with 170 points following the men's soccer team's national championship and the women's soccer team's trip to the national quarterfinals to finish fifth overall. The Blue Raiders entered the winter season in 10th place.

During the winter, four teams scored points, led by wrestling's 27th-place finish for 47 points. Men's swimming finished 15th overall for 45 points, while women's indoor track & field tallied 32 points. Women's basketball rounded out the point scorers with 25 after its first-round loss in the NAIA National Championship.

Lindsey Wilson concluded the winter season in 14th place with 319 points.

Five teams earned a total of 276 points during the spring season to lift the Blue Raiders into the top-10.

Women's golf led the way with their sixth-place finish at the national championship to earn 72 points, while softball added 64 points with its first trip to the NAIA National Championship where it finished 2-1 in pool play. The men's and women's tennis teams both added 53 points and men's track & field rounded out the group with 34 points.

Azusa Pacific (CA) University captured its sixth straight Cup with 820 points.

Lindsey Wilson finished first among Mid-South Conference institutions in the standings. University of the Cumberlands (KY) finished 40th with 345 points, Campbellsville (KY) University finished 61st with 209 points, University of Rio Grande (Ohio) finished 68th with 198.50 points, while Georgetown (KY) College collected 115 points to take 108th place.

In the final standings, 195 of the 287 NAIA institutions scored in the season-long competition.
