Caroline Kay Gardner was born June 28, 2010, to bless the lives Sarah and Stephen Gardner and in answer to the prayers of the multitude of friends who have rallied behind the new baby's brave mother.

Caroline Kay weighed 3 lbs and was 15" long at birth, Harriet Gold reported.

And, "She's beautiful," Mrs. Gold said. "Wes sent a photo from his cell phone, and as you would expect, the baby is beautiful." Wes Irvin is Sarah's brother.

Caroline was born by Caesarean section two and one half months early. But she's breathing on her own and is doing quite well, Harriet Gold said. "She's like her mother," she added. "Caroline is a fighter, too."
