Adair Co. High School Quiz Bowl team is #7 in America!

Academic County does it again!

ACHS Quick Recall Team - Luke Maupin, Ryan Montgomery, Jake Leibeck, and Jaylyn Bailey. Coach Brett Reliford - also clearly tops in the Commonwealth, topping perennial nemeses: Paul Lawrence Dunbar and Dupont Manual High School. They beat 193 other Top National Teams to attain ranking! Parents are on their way to Louisville airport to give these brainy kids a heroes' ride home!

By Jackie Montgomery

Our Adair County High School "Quiz Bowl" National Academic Quiz Tournament Team has earned the #7 ranking IN THE COUNTRY, out of 200 teams and about 825 students.

They are the #1 team in Kentucky, above their perennial nemeses, Paul Lawrence Dunbar and Dupont Manual High Schools!

Individual rankings are pending, and I am certain that Coach Reliford will post a detailed and much more coherent report.

As an extremely proud mother and Adair Countian, I would like to recognize Coach Brett Reliford for his dedication and excellent coaching. I would also like to extend my appreciation and gratitude to all the people who helped with donations and encouragement for the Quiz Bowl Team.

At this very moment, parents are heading up to the Louisville airport to be on hand to greet the team and provide a hero's ride back home.

What a phenomenal accomplishment this is for the team, the coach, the high school, and Columbia, Adair County, Kentucky!

Anyone who would not have thought that little Columbia Kentucky could prepare students who could reach the #7 spot nationally against schools with exponentially greater resources, must now be thinking again. That would include about 193 high school teams from every state in this country!

WOOO HOOOOO
