Adair Co. team off to impressive start in National Quiz Bowl Adair County Quick Recall Team - Luke Maupin, Ryan Montgomery, Jake Leibeck, and Jaylyn Bailey and coach Brett Reliford - faces tough challenges today, competing with 200 of best quiz bowl champions in America. Brainy kids from Columbia, KY, win big on first day. Follow results as posted at 2010 High School National Championship Team Standings (None yet posted at 4:30amCT, Saturday, May 29, 2010) Special ColumbiaMagazine.com story CHICAGO, IL (Hyatt Regency, O'Hare, 9300 Bryn Mawr AV, Rosemont, IL) - In the opening matches of the National Academic Quiz Tournament held in Chicago, Adair County is off to an impressive start despite a very tough draw right out of the gate. In the first match of the evening, the team turned some heads with a 275-225 victory, knocking off Centennial High School, this year's state champions from Georgia, a team that has an undefeated run to their state title on their resume. The opponents did not get any easier, however, as Adair fell victim in the 2nd match to Wilmington Charter School, the defending National Champions from Delaware. BR>The team's third match tonight was a 390-105 victory over Riverside-Brookfield High School from Riverside, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago.The team will play another rigorous set of preliminary matches Saturday, May 29, 2010, hoping to qualify for the prestigious final elimination rounds of competition on Sunday.
