FCCLA, Art Club raise $1,100 for Food Pantry Merriwether, Alex Morgan, Monica McElyea, Lacey Morgan, Whitney Wade and Ashley Pegg, Lashay Bryant, Megan Janes, Daniel Hagerty, Cynthia Rowe, Kayla Martin, Chelsea Hatcher, Haley Curry and Ashton Lee present check May 11, 2010. Click on headline for story plus photo(s) By Vanessa Burton Adair County students in Family Career and Community Leaders of America, sponsor Vanessa Burton, and Art Club, sponsor Debra Wimmer, participated in a fundraiser for the local food pantry. Thanks to the generosity of people who attended, the clubs were able to present a check to Cynthia Rowe for $1,100.00 to help support Adair County's Food Pantry, on Tuesday, May 11, 2010. "Empty Bowls" is a international project that helps fight hunger. The Art Club sculpted ceramic bowls to symbolize the empty bowls that many local families face when trying to provide food for their families. The FCCLA collected donations in the form of food and money from local churches and individuals. The clubs hosted a luncheon at the school where the bowls were sold and donations for lunch were accepted. Members presenting the check were Mia Merriwether, Alex Morgan, Monica McElyea, Lacey Morgan, Whitney Wade and Ashley Pegg, Lashay Bryant, Megan Janes, Daniel Hagerty, Cynthia Rowe, Kayla Martin, Chelsea Hatcher, Haley Curry and Ashton Lee.
