Obituary: Herman Duncan, 78, Cundiff Community

He was a retired Grader and Dozer operator and provided sanitation services for Adair and Russell Counties, KY. He was a U.S. Army veteran and will be accorded full military honors by Columbia VFW Post 6097 at his burial

Herman Duncan age 78 years of the Cundiff Community passed away Wednesday May 26, 2010 at 9:54 P. M. at his home after an illness.

The funeral service Saturday, May 29, 2010 at 2pmCT at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg ST, Columbia, KY, with Bro. Buford Hadley and Bro. Jessie Jewell the officiating clergy. Interment in Columbia Cemetery, 315 Campbellsville ST, Columbia, KY, with full military honors by Columbia VFW Post 6097. Visitation is after 4pmCT, Friday, May 28, 2010, at the funeral home.



Herman Duncan, Cundiff, KY (1931-2010)

Herman Duncan was the son of the late Tom and Lillian York Duncan. He was born on Wednesday, October 7, 1931 in Russell County, KY and died Wednesday, May 26, 2010, at his home in Cundiff, KY, at the age of 78 years, 7 months, and 19 days.

He was preceded in death by his wife Marcella Green Duncan, on July 21, 1993, also preceded in death by three brothers, Raymond, Veston and Jack Duncan and one sister, Doris Kennedy.

He is survived by the following:
  • One daughter: Rebecca Antle, and husband Donnie of Jamestown, KY

  • One son: Gary Duncan of Cundiff, KY

  • Two sisters: Faye Berry and Opal Reed, both of Michigan

  • Four grandchildren: Justin Antle and his wife Tiffany, Veston Duncan, Sheena Duncan and Exander Antle

  • A special friend: Al Grant

  • Several nieces, nephews and friends
He was a retired Grader and Dozer operator for the Russell County Road Department, he also provided sanitation service for Adair and Russell Counties and served in the U. S. Army.

Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home in charge of funeral arrangements.
