Hope Fund for Sarah Irvin Gardner at UCB

Two ways to help: 1) Financially 2) Through Prayers, whether one is able to give otherwise or not

By Harriet Gold

A Hope Fund for Sarah Irvin Gardner has been set up at United Citizens Bank in Columbia to help cover her mounting medical expenses. If you would like to contribute, you may donate at either location - 700 Jamestown Street or on North 55 at the Bypass, Columbia, KY.

Sarah was diagnosed with brain cancer in June 2007 at the age of 26 and had surgery to remove most of the tumor. For two years, Sarah underwent radiation and chemotherapy to fight the cancer that was left. In January 2010 Sarah and her husband, Stephen, were thrilled to learn that they were expecting their first child.

Their celebration lasted until April, 2010 when doctors discovered on a routine follow up MRI that the tumor had grown.

Due to her pregnancy, her treatment options were limited, but she was able to start chemo again. An MRI four weeks later revealed that the tumor had spread into inoperable areas of her brain.

After another surgery to relieve pressure on the brain, Sarah remains in Norton Hospital in Louisville while she and the baby are being closely monitored. Doctors anticipate that Baby Gardner will be delivered about three months early and Sarah will remain hospitalized for treatment.

Sarah and Stephen are paying rent in Louisville while trying to repair and sell their flood-damaged home in Nashville, TN.

Please take this opportunity to help a very deserving young family. If you can't help financially, please keep them in your prayers.
