ACHS Jazz and Percussion Ensemble Concert far exceeds goal Click on headline for story plus photos by Doyle Lloyd LIST of PERFORMERS The first ever Adair County High School Jazz and Percussion Ensemble Concert, under the direction of Mr. Tom Case, far exceeded the expectations of the organizers, Doyle Lloyd, Band Booster President said. "We expected maybe 50 people to come to the event," he said, "and we would have been happy with 100," then added, "several of us made estimates, and we all thought the number was over 200!" The event was held Thursday evening at Adair County Middle School Gym/Auditorium. Doyle Lloyd will be step down as President of the Band Boosters at the group's next meeting. He'll still be giving a hand he said. And hopes to see some even more ambitious programs ahead, programs which in the past have been hampered by lack of funds. He said that the band is hoping to get the Adair County Fair Concessions again, and most fairgoers hope they succeed. The band boosters provided Fair Food which had some buying tickets to get onto the grounds just so they could buy the food. He said that he hopes that, in the future, the Band will compete for the national Bands of America title every year. "We have the talent," he said, "surely we'll find a way to provide the funds to get them to the contests."Scroll down for photo(s) This story was posted on 2010-05-08 17:43:18
