Baby So Soft campaign now needs just 251.5 blankets!

Bonnie Rodgers reports that, as of 4:04pmCT, Thursday, May 6, 2010, the Baby So Soft campaign needs just 251.5 blankets to reach its goal of 1,000 blankets to give to the Kosair Children's Hospital's Neonatal Infant Care Unit (NICU).One thousand soft holding blankets will be enough to give one to each baby in the Kosair Children's Hospital's Neonatal Intensive Care Unit over the course of one year.

In all 715 blankets and $335 in cash (33.5 blanket equivalents) have been donated at this time.

Latest organizational heroes have been the Ft. Knox National Credit Union in Campbellsville, KY, which sent 27 blankets, and the United Citizens Bank of Southern, KY, with banks in Columbia, Campbellsville, and Russell Springs, donated 23 blankets.

Time to finish the job for Monica

The drive has taken on new meaning, since the flooding of the home of its founder, Monica Rodgers-Shuffett. Robert Harmon, whose grandson Jaymeson recently had a stay in the NICU at Kosair, whose family has been a big supporter of the drive, said, "We ought to finish it up for Monica. She's done so much and has been through so much in the past week," adding a rallying cry for the campaign.

Bonnie Rodgers thinks community can do it

"I think we're going to reach Monica's goal," her mother, Bonnie Rodgers said. "We know of one school which will be donating one blanket for every teacher in the school. There are still organizations as far away as Monticello who have promised to help, and we still have a number of churches which planned to turn in gifts but didn't hold services on Sunday because of the rain."Any amount is welcome, she said. Whether a hero wants to step up and donate the entire 248.5 blankets or $2,485 to buy them, or an individual wants to stop by Quality Personnel and contribute just $10, $20 or even $50.

The Campaign will take donations of blankets and cash through Friday, May 14, 2010. The drop off point is Quality Personnel, 308 Greensburg ST, Columbia, KY. For more information call (270) 384-2866. For more information click on Baby So Soft
