1933 Union Revival at Glens Fork had number of conversions

Click on headline for story plus copy of letter

By Dave Rosenbaum

As I was sorting through the effects of my Aunt Jewel Grider, I came across a hand-written account of a "Union Meeting' held at Glensfork in mid-1933."

Apparently an evangelistic meeting was conducted at the Glensfork Methodist Church with the preaching duties shared by the Rev. Warren Shipp, who I assume was the Methodist Church Preacher and the Christian Church Preacher, H. J. Conover.

I am not familiar with Rev. Shipp, but I know that H.J. Conover was a Christian Church preacher who preached at the Christian Churches throughout Adair and surrounding counties for decades.

Apparently after the meeting they had a baptizing. It doesn't say anything about how they allocated the responders between the churches; however, I imagine that they just let that take care of itself.

Sure would have been interesting to have heard some of those sermons.
