AC Academic Team earns another International competitor

Heather Jackson receives an at-large bid to compete

By Brett Reliford

The Adair County Academic Teams were contacted Wednesday, April 29, for more exciting and surprising news about International competition.

Coach Brett Reliford and the Frankfort KAAC offices were notified that Heather Jackson, an ACHS Freshman, earned the right to advance to International competition after the final results for at-large bids were selected.

At State Finals in March, Heather finished 2nd Place overall in FPS Scenario Writing.

In that particular event, the International offices only accept the state/affiliate champions in each division among the worldwide affiliates. The 2nd Place finishers then go through a series of evaluations head-to-head to fill a very few remaining at-large bids left for competitors in that event.

After several rounds of evaluation, the month and a half long process has ended with Heather Jackson on top, thus earning her a spot for the World Championships in June. This means that the Adair County school district is advancing to the International Conference with a representative from all three levels of school, an accomplishment only achieved by two other school districts in Kentucky since the inception of FPS Internationals.
