News from ACMS A-Team Boosters
The ACMS FPS team would like to extend a rousing and sincere "Thank You" to all who helped to make the brown bag fundraiser an astonishing success yesterday, Wednesday the 28th of April!

To all of our generous and supportive community members: we could not do any of this without you! We have heard from so many that they believe the Academic Teams deserve more publicity and recognition, and are glad that they are now in the news. Many people have made "above and beyond" donations, from the young lady who proffered the last one dollar in her pocketbook; a former Academic Team coach who shared inspiring words with team members at the Expo table; all the way up to our Gold Sponsors.

Each and every dollar is sincerely appreciated, and needed. However, above and beyond the dollars and cents is the fierce community pride and true generosity of the community. What an inspiration to all of our youth it is to see, hear and know that the community is proud of them, supports them, and will give from their own budgets to help the team achieve its goals!

Brown Bag Lunch was prime example of generosity of community

The brown bag lunch Wednesday was a prime example of the generosity of the community, and their fondness for freshly grilled burgers and hot dogs! The rough estimate is that we filled at least 200 orders, the majority of which were delivered to the diner's workplace. To those who had to wait longer than the beginning of their usual lunch hour for their orders: thank you so much for understanding! For those whose box may have lacked a "Little Debbie," we would be happy to bring you a home baked dessert to make up for it.

There was a Recognition Ceremony for all four Adair County Academic Teams in the school district at 1:00 in the ACMS gymnasium. Senator McGaha and Representative Carney spoke to the ACMS student body and teachers, and Academic Team members, coaches, parents and principals. Coaches Mr. Brett Reliford and Mrs. Sherry Stotts received a standing ovation for their years of dedication, hard work, perseverance and inspiration to the students. With their guidance, Adair County is a 'well known entity' in national and even international circles.

The publicity provided by our local news and communications outlets has made a great impact and we would like to publicly extend our appreciation to Columbia Magazine for the "real time" postings; WAIN and WHVE radio stations for so kindly interviewing our team members (now radio personalities?) and for the PSAs; Adair Progress and Community Voice for the generous print coverage of the team accomplishments, events, and fundraisers.

We will post again with photos and a more detailed description of the Recognition Ceremony.

Drawing for UK/UL game will be last day of school

Remember our ongoing fundraiser, those of you UK fans (or who have family/friends who are):We have four UK home game tickets (two to a SEC game) that will be raffled off. Raffle tickets are $5.00 each, and the drawing will be held the last day of school.

Thanks again for helping to reach our team's goal: the International Competition in Wisconsin June 10-13! -Jackie Montgomery
