LWC Cycling finishes Strong at the MWCCC regionals

Danny Estevez finishes 1st in men's A road race

LAFAYETTE, IN - The Lindsey Wilson College cycling team posted a second-place finish and two third-place finishes in the Mid West Collegiate Cycling Conference Regionals over the weekend at Purdue (IN) University.

The Blue Raiders finished second in the team time trials as the men's "A" group finished second with a time of 13 minutes and 26.0 seconds. The women's "A" riders crossed the line I 16:31.00 to take second place, while the men's "B" (15:38.00) and "D" squads (16:56.00) also finished in second place.



Danny Estevez, Alder Martz in top 10

Danny Estevez highlighted the Lindsey Wilson finishes in the road race portion of regionals, finishing first in the men's "A" race. Alder Martz joined him in the top 10 in eighth place, while Kyle Foley and Clayton Omer finished in 14th and 19th place, respectively.

Raiders third overall in road races

The Blue Raiders finished third overall in the road races, collecting 590 total points, while Marian University and the University of Wisconsin-Madison took first and second place, respectively.

Ashley James (2), Brooke Crum (7) tops in women's A race

Ashley James led Lindsey Wilson in the women's "A" race with a second-place mark, followed by Brooke Crum in seventh.

Michael Palevo and Scott Hoffner look good in men's B

Also finishing second was Michael Palevo in the men's "B", while Scott Hoffner followed behind in the top 10 in ninth place.

Blake Walker 8th in men's D

Rounding out the road-race participants was Blake Walker who finished eighth in the men's "D" race.

Raiders third overall in criterium

Lindsey Wilson was also third overall in the criterium portion, tallying 438 team points. Marian finished first again with 884 points and Wisconsin-Madison took second place with 464 points.

Spaude, Omer, Bogedin, and Underwood in top 20

Four riders finished in the top 20 of the men's "A" race, led by Kip Spaude in fifth place and Omer in seventh. Chris Bogedin collected a 16th-place finish and Bryan Underwood turned in a 19th-place performance.

Allie Dragoo in top 10; Sarah Lukas (12) and Ashley James (14) tops in women's A race

Allie Dragoo kept her name in the top 10 of the women's "A" race, finishing ninth, while Sarah Lukas finished 12th and Ashley James took 14th place.

Scott Hoffner (3), Matt Dooley (6), and Taylor Ladd (15)

Finishing third in the men's "B" crit was Scott Hoffner, while Matt Dooley was close behind in sixth and Taylor Ladd crossed in 15th place.

Zach Dorsey (3); Blake Walker (8) in D crit

Two riders rounded out the Lindsey Wilson competitors at regionals in the men's "D" crit as Zach Dorsey finished third and Blake Walker took eighth place.

The team returns to action at Road Race Nationals on May 7-9, 2010, in Madison, WI.
