CU women improve, but stay in 3rd place in MSC golf By Richard RoBards News from Campbellsville Sports Information GEORGETOWN, KY - Campbellsville's women shot 13 strokes better on the second day of the Mid-South Conference Championship at Cherry Blossom Golf Course in Georgetown, KY, but they couldn't make up any ground on the leaders. The Lady Tigers' Katie White shot the third best round of the second day with a 77, but was still 10 strokes shy of medalist Jessica Smith, Lindsey Wilson, who shot 76-75 (151). Lindsey Wilson won the team title with a 632 score, 19 strokes better than runner-up Cumberlands and 43 shots better than Campbellsville. Georgetown was fourth with a 742 and St. Catharine, in their first year of competition, fifth with an 866. "We played better today," said coach Lindsay Hines, "but no where near what we're capable of shooting." After White's 77, CU dropped off a bit. Kaela Smith had an 82 (42-40), Jordan Johnson an 85 (40-45), Lauren Goodin an 87 (42-45), and Shelly Minix a 95 ( 46-48). For much of the front nine conditions were miserable. After two days of steady rain, the sun finally popped through with the women needing seven holes to finish. Team scoring: Lindsey Wilson (318-314) 632; Cumberlands (325-326) 651; Campbellsville (344-331) 675; Georgetown (363-379) 742; and St. Catharine (427-439) 866.
