Ideas for summer activities at CWC at What Can I Do Now? program Event for parents and students is designed to keep kids active and learning during the summer months, to help them retain what they have learned and be able to start school where they left off at the end of previous school term. By Patty Jones and Dana Harmon Col. Wm. Casey, Adair County Elementary School and John Adair Intermediate School have joined forces to help keep students active andinvolved over the coming summer. On Thursday evening, April 29, 2010, from 4pm-6:30pmCT, the three schools are sponsoring an event called "What Can We Do Now?," which will be held at the Col. Wm Casey Elementary School Gym, at 220 Gen. John Adair DR, Columbia, KY. Parents and students from the schools are encouraged to stop by and learn about what all is happening in our community during the Summer of 2010. This event will host representatives from various clubs, organizations, camps and activities, for registration and information at or with:
There is research which indicates that most students lose as much as two months of learned information during the summer months. Students who participate in some type of summer learning activities retain that information and begin the new school year where they left off the prior year, according to the research.
