LW Softball splits with No. 19 Trevecca Nazarene Softball here today: Blue Raiders host University of the Cumberlands at noon at Lindsey Wilson Park in the Lindsey Wilson Sports Complex, 820 Hanley LN, Columbia, KY By Chris Wells News from Lindsey Wilson Sports Information COLUMBIA, KY - Anyibell Ramirez made sure the Lindsey Wilson College softball team beat 19th ranked Trevecca Nazarene University in game one on Friday, pitching 7.0 innings with 13 strikeouts and allowing just two hits in the 7-1 win. Game two, however, came down to a late battle that saw Trevecca Nazarene walk away with a 3-2 win in extra innings. Ramirez had a strong offense behind her in the opener as shortstop Jamie Williams finished 2-for-3 and second baseman Jordan Gilland also went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored. Alexis Rodgers scores on double play The Blue Raiders jumped ahead of the Trojans 2-0 in the first inning as left fielder Alexis Rodgers scored on a double play ball hit by catcher Ally Goniea and right fielder Megan Huckaby advanced home on a single by Gilland. Trevecca Nazarene responded with its lone run of the game in the top of the fifth inning, while Lindsey Wilson also added a run in its half of the fifth. Leading 3-1, the Blue Raiders gave themselves a strong cushion with four runs in the bottom of the sixth to seal the win. Trojans also demonstrate great pitching While Lindsey Wilson is used to getting strong performances from its pitching staff, they got to see another strong performance first hand from the Trojans Lauren Baker in game two. Baker went the distance in the 3-2 win, throwing 8.0 innings (126 pitches) with 10 strikeouts while limiting Lindsey Wilson to just three hits. Another strong first inning put Lindsey Wilson in front 1-0 until the fourth when the Trojans tied the game. The Blue Raiders shot back with a run of their own in the sixth inning on an error in the infield that allowed pinch runner Ashley Gilbert to storm home for the go-ahead run. Trevecca Nazarene loaded the bases in the seventh inning and Ramirez was sent in to replace Paschall. Ramirez's appearance started well with a strikeout, but a wild pitch that sailed just out of reach of Goniea gave the Trojans their tying run. Trevecca Nazarene wasted no time in extra inning plating another score to take a 3-2 lead, while the Blue Raiders never got their offense going in their half of the inning to put together another comeback.
