Poetry by Robert Stone Limits

Limits
A sonnet inspired by the Floyd Collins Festival
by Robert Stone
The young who know no limits rush to play
and learn the dangers one by painful one,
gain prudent hesitation, choose delay,
and map mischances not to be undone.

But some are ever driven to the new
and possibilities will lead them on.
With luck the weaving of their lives is through
when satisfaction warms their final dawn.

Yet others never venture forth to find
the thrill of revel in an unknown role.
With bland repetitiveness tight they wind
the mundane expectations of their soul.

Who fears too little tempts unblinking fate,
who fears too much redeems an empty slate.
- Robert Stone, 18 April 2010The next earlier Robert H. Stone Poem is Finding Answers
