Obituary: Lovie K. Pennington, 99, Center, KY

She was a member of a respected North Metcalfe Co. family, a homemaker, and a member of the Center Church of Christ

Lovie Katherine Pennington age 99, of Center died Thursday, April 15, 2010 at her home.

Funeral services will be held 2pmCT, Sunday, April 18, 2010, at Butler Funeral Home, 201 East ST, Edmonton, KY, with burial in the Center-Asbury Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3-8pmCT, Saturday, April 17, 2010, and after 9amCT, Sunday, April 18, 2010 at the funeral home.


She was the daughter of the late Allen and Gertrude Harlow Matney.

Lovie was a homemaker and member of the Center Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifton Pennington.

She is survived by the following:
  • Three sons: Carl Reed Pennington and Jimmy Depp (Joyce) Pennington all of Center, and Ray Maurice (Joyce) Pennington of Summer Shade, KY

  • Eight grandchildren: Brenda (Sammy) Norris, Wayne (Gayle), Anthony (Sheila), Darrell (Karen), Marty (Shauna), Timmy (Teresa), Julian and Shannon Pennington

  • Four step grandchildren: Teresa Shaw, Vickie Caudill, Roger and Randall London

  • Ten great grandchildren: Dylan Norris, Alex, Austin, Nick, Melissa, Tony, Natalie, April, Ashley and Megan Pennington

  • Three step great grandchildren: Chris Royce, Reagan London and Ashley Pickerell

  • Five great great grandchildren: Holden White, Hunter Nunnally, Piper Pennington, Allison Grace Simpson and William Braxton Simpson

  • One step great great grandchild: Sophia Royce

  • One brother in law and two sister in laws: James Pennington, Shirley and Jenny Matney

  • Her caregive Candy Ferguson
Besides her parents Lovie was preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters, Carl Dale, James Allen, Bill, Frank, Kenneth and Ray Matney, Ruby Leonard and Ruth Dale Webb.

Butler Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
