Steering wheel lockup blamed for Metcalfe Co., KY crash

1988 Ford pickup steering problem results in vehicle leaving roadway, striking tree. Passenger taken to TJ Samson Hospital.

METCALFE CO., KY - Trooper Logan Richardson is investigating a collision that occurred on Thursday, April 8, 2010, at 6:30pmCT, on Roy Grider RD in Metcalfe Co., KY.

Robie Gentry, age 34, of Tompkinsville, KY, was traveling west on Roy Grider Road, operating a 1988 Ford pick up when his steering wheel locked up causing him to leave the roadway and strike a tree.



A passenger in the vehicle, Robert Bunch, age 33 of Glasgow, KY, was transported to TJ Sampson Hospital in Glasgow where he was admitted for non life threatening injuries.

Neither Bunch nor Gentry were wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident.
