Hart Co., KY ATV passenger dies of injuries in crash

Tragedy occurred one mile east of Horse Cave, KY. Both driver and passenger airlifted to UL Hospital. Sheriff's Department reports neither victim was wearing helmet

A passenger on an ATV was fatally injured in an accident which occurred in a field approximately one mile east of Horse Cave in Hart Co., KY. The tragedy occurred Tuesday, April 6, 2010.



Officers from the Hart County Sheriff's Department in Munfordville, KY, responded to the accident at 3:30pmCT and report that the ATV was operated by Amber Stephens, 19, of Charlie Moran Highway, Horse Cave, KY.

Amber Stephens was flown to the University of Louisville Hospital where she is being treated for injuries.

April Stephens, 21, Horse Cave, Kentucky, a passenger, died at the University of Louisville Hospital in Louisville, KY, at approximately 6:55pmCT, Tuesday, April 6, 2010, as a result of injuries suffered in the crash.

Neither driver nor passenger was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, according to the Hart County Sheriff's Department.

The Hart County Sheriff's Department was assisted by the Horse Cave Fire Department, Hart County EMS, and Air Methods of Kentucky.
