Membership & Public Relations Chairman

The Westlake Regional Hospital Auxiliary met Monday, March 15 at 6:30 PM at the Hospital Cafe.President Margaret Sparks called the meeting to order by welcoming those in attendance. The minutes of the past meeting were read was Secretary Sharon Harris followed by the financial report given by Treasurer Evelyn Phelps.

Fundraising projects discussed

A discussion was held on having a bake and yard sale the end of March, but it was decided to wait until later in the spring. It was reported that the "scrub sale" that was held recently was very successful. Pecans are still available at the Hospital Gift Shop. They are fresh pecans from the past crop. Remember, pecans will keep in the freezer or refrigerator for 1 year or more. The Auxiliary has fund raising projects throughout the year. Money raised from the projects are used to benefit the hospital, such as buying needed equipment, redecorating, [purchasing chairs, TV's and other needed projects. A special "thank you" to each person who has participated in the events. You are appreciated!

Shirl Moore is new member

We welcomed a new member Shirl Moore and look forward to having her as a part of the organization. The "Welcome Mat" is always out for new members. Anyone who would like to have more information about the Auxiliary may contact President Margaret Sparks at 384-4139, Sue Stivers at 384-6020 or any member. All members are asked to bring a guest or prospective member to the April meeting. Members who have not paid their $5.00 membership fee may remit to treasurer Evelyn Phelps.

Get well, greeting cards sent

Get well cards were signed by each member and sent to Dorothy Murray, Mary Evelyn Walker and Mary Hadley. Sympathy card to K.I. and Maxine Riddle.

Interesting program on 2010 Census

Sue Stivers gave an interesting and educational program on the importance of the 2010 Census. Every person in Adair County is urged to complete the census and return immediately. It only cost the government a 44 cent stamp for you to return the census. If one does not return the census, there will be a census worker knock on your door which will cost the government approximately $70.00. The amount of federal money that a County receives is determined by population. The higher the population the more money they receive which is used for schools, hospitals, roads, bridges, grants for organization and the list goes on and on. That's why it is so important that every person in our County be counted. Also encourage your friends and neighbors to return their census. The 2010 census. It is in our hands. Let's be counted!

Shirley Grider gives inspirational reading

Shirley Grider gave an inspirational reading provided by Evelyn Phelps which everyone enjoyed. Delicious refreshments were served by Margaret Sparks and Sharon Harris, hostess for the month.
