Jacob Burton honored at IU Optometry White Coat Ceremony By Ed Waggener Jacob Burton, Columbia, KY, marked the mid-point of his study to become a Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) at Indiana University School of Optometry in Bloomington, IN. Burton was honored in the White Coat Ceremony at the school, on Saturday, March 6, 2010, which marks the transition to the clinical aspect of the training. He is a 2004 graduate of Adair County High School, where he lettered in both baseball and basketball, Following graduation, he earned a Bachelor of Science in biology at the University of Kentucky, completing those requirements in 2008. He had been undecided about a career in healthcare or engineering, but opted for the former, and was accepted at the prestigious Indiana school. He is the son of Greg and Julie Burton of the Mt. Carmel community of Adair County. He has two siblings, brother Elliot Buron and sister Carli, both of whom attended the ceremony. In a short time, he and his fiancee', Malory Feese, daughter of Jeff and Shannon Feese of Columbia, KY, will formally announce their engagement. Following graduation and completion of all the steps for Kentucky certification, he plans to return to Columbia to practice optometry with the people with whom he was raised.
