LWC Softball Splits Doubleheader at Indiana University SE Click on headline for full story + photo By Dan White News from Lindsey Wilson College Sports Information NEW ALBANY, IN - The Lindsey Wilson College softball team split a pair of games at Indiana University Southeast on Thursday, March 18, 2010, winning game one 7-5, before falling to the Grenadiers 5-1 in game two. Morgan Paschall earned the win in the opener, going 7.0 innings with eight strikeouts while allowing four earned runs. Center fielder Haley Cheuvront went 2-for-3 with a run and third baseman Caren Alexander finished 1-for-3 with a run and three RBI in the win. Game two's leader at the plate was shortstop Jordan Gilland going 2-for-3 with an RBI, while Emily Poynter picked up the loss in the circle, allowing two earned runs and two walks with four strikeouts in 5.0 innings. Paschall entered in the sixth inning for Poynter and gave up another earned run and a hit in the loss. The Blue Raiders catapulted in front of IU-Southeast with a five-run third inning to take a 5-3 lead and secured the win with two more runs in the sixth. Catcher Ally Goniea sent a home run over the fence, while Alexander and left fielder Alexis Rodgers registered doubles in the win. A double by Alexander was the only extra-base hit for the Blue Raiders in game two as the Grenadiers broke open a 1-1 tie with runs in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings to pick up the win. Lindsey Wilson is 14-7 overall and 6-2 in Mid-South Conference play after the split, while IU-Southeast stands at 9-7 overall and 6-2 in the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
