Obituary: Earl Meditz, 84, Adair Co., KY

Mr. Meditz was a World War II veteran. He will be accorded full military rites by Columbia VFW Post 6097. He was a semi-truck driver and was of the Catholic faith.

Earl Meditz age 84 years of Liberty RD, Columbia, KY passed away Thursday, March 18, 2010, at Ephraim McDowell Hospital in Danville, KY., after several weeks illness.

The funeral service will be Saturday, March 20, 2010 at 2pmCT, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg ST, Columbia, KY, with Rev. Phillip Smallwood officiating. Interment in the Pellyton Cemetery, with full military rites at graveside by Columbia Post VFW # 6097. Visitation will be after 3:30pmCT, on Friday, March 19, 2010, at the funeral home.

Earl Meditz was born Wednesday, October 28, 1925 in Milford, Seward Co., NE, and died Thursday, March 18, 2010, in Danville, Boyle Co., KY, at the age of 84 years, 4 months, and 18 days.

Survived by his wife Cecelia Carol ( Smith) Meditz, Columbia, KY and the following:
  • Three sons: John R. Meditz of Atlanta, GA; Mark Meditz of Hobart, IN; and Phillip Meditz of Wheatfield, IN

  • Three daughters: Doris A. Cruse of Valparasio, IN; Kathyleen Meditz of Ft. Wayne, IN;and Lisa A. Shellheart of Wheatfield, IN

  • Four Stepchildren: Raquel R. Miller of Knifley, KY; Marcia C. Schmucker of Osceola, IN; James Evans of Wichita Falls, TX; and Tammy Evans of Wichita Falls, TX

  • Eleven grandchildren

  • Eight great grandchildren
He was preceded in death by two sons and one daughter. Michael Meditz, Robert Meditz and Debra Meditz.

Mr. Meditz was of the Catholic faith a World War II veteran and a semi truck driver.
