Adair Countian Derek Cape is MSC Pitcher of the Week

Award announced following no hitter against Davenport. Cape leads MSC in earned run average, tied for No. 1 in wins

COLUMBIA, KY - Lindsey Wilson College pitcher Derek Cape is the Mid-South Conference Baseball Pitcher of the Week, the conference announced on Monday. Cape earned the same honor last week after throwing a no-hitter against Davenport (Mich.) University on Sunday, March 7, 2010.



Cape turned in his second straight complete-game performance in a 2-1 win against University of Rio Grande (OH) on Friday, March 12, 2010.The Columbia, KY, native struck out 11 Redstorm batters while allowing just two hits and a walk in seven innings.

Cape leads the MSC with a 1.13 earned run average and is tied at No. 1 in the conference with three wins. The sophomore has allowed just three earned runs in 24 innings of work on the mound this season.Lindsey Wilson is 8-7 overall this season and 1-3 in MSC play. The Blue Raiders return to action at 2pmCT on Tuesday, March 16, 2010, at Brescia (KY) University.

Derek Cape, a Lindsey Wilson Sophomore from Columbia, KY, is the Mid-South Conference's leading pitcher, with the best earned run average in the league. He's been named Pitcher of the Week following a no-hitter March 16, 2010, at Lindsey Park against Davenport University.
