By George Kolbenschlag, President, Columbia Rotary Club

Rotarians and other friends of Homeplace on Green River, 6035 New Columbia RD, Campbellsville, KY, began installation of a water ram pump at Homeplace on Green River Saturday, March 13, 2010.

A water ram pump uses a very simple 300 year old technology using only the power of moving water and will pump water up steep hills over a long distance.

The one being installed at Homeplace will be used to move water vertically about 115 feet over a 700 foot distance.

Volunteers who helped with the project were Trent Ford, president of the Greensburg Rotary Club; J. D. Zornes, Columbia Rotary; Eric Fitzpatrick; Richard Fitzpatrick, Columbia Rotary; Don Moore, and Ted Caldwell, Columbia Rotary. Others working on the project , and not in the accompanying photo were Columbia Rotarians Max Downey and George Kolbenschlag, Greg Eastham and David Curry.
