Obituary: Edward Oris May, 89, Liberty, KY

Mr. May was a highly regarded citizen of Casey Co., KY. He was retired from the UK Extension Service, and was a U.S.Army Air Forces veteran of World War II

Edward Oris May, 89, Liberty, KY, died Tuesday, March 9, 2010, at the Casey County Hospital in Liberty, KY.

The funeral service will be at 11amET/10amCT, Thursday, March 11, 2010, at the Liberty United Methodist Church, 108 Hustonville ST, Liberty, KY, with Rev. Bruce Lee officiating. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6pmET/5pmCT to 9pmET/8pmCT at Bartle Funeral Home Chapel, and after 10amET/9amCT, at Liberty United Methodist Church.



Edward Oris May, Casey Co., KY (1920-2010)

He was the son of the late John L. May and Emma Davis May. He was born, Wednesday, June 2, 1920, in Lincoln Co., KY and died Tuesday, March 9, 2010, in Liberty, Casey Co., KY, at the age of 89 years, 9 months, and 7 days.He was a U.S. Army Air Forces veteran of World War II and was retired from the U.K. Extension service.He is survived by his wife, Viola Smallwood May, and the following:
  • One son: James L. May, Waynesburg, KY

  • Two daughters: Brenda May, Liberty, KY; and Marcella Dunn, Somerset, KY

  • Four grandchildren

  • Seven great grandchildren
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Johnny, Marvin, and Kenneth May.

Memorials are suggested to the Liberty United Methodist Church or Gideons International.

Bartle Funeral Home, 142 KY 49, Liberty, KY, is in charge of arrangements.
