"Kip Spaude's win was such an inspiration to the team. He is a senior, his parents had driven down from Wisconsin to see him race, this is his home course, and he won on an attack on the final climb.

"The men's B race for me was the most exciting race of the day as our team was the animators the whole race, controlling almost every move and getting a third, sixth, and ninth, something we never saw last year in the B races."

Biggest stars were the gracious people in Columbia and Adair Co.

"I'm incredibly proud of our student-athletes for another great weekend of racing. But perhaps the biggest stars of the weekend were the gracious people in Columbia and Adair County," Grigsby said. "This community did more than just open its arms to our program, our home race, and the visiting cyclists, it came out and welcomed our event and our visitors with open hearts and kind words of praise and encouragement. Purdy Church, Kelleyville Church and Adair County High School as well as our wonderful volunteers who manned corners on the road, and the courteous and patient people traveling through our community were simply terrific.

"So much goes into planning and hosting a race like this, and time after time our community went out of their way to make it happen."
