Raider Cyclists win Midwest Conference Meet here by big margin

Coach David Grigsby's Lindsey Wilson Cycling Team won the Midwest Conference Cycling meet held at three points in Adair County this past weekend, March 6 and 7, 2010, topping the other 28 schools competing by a commanding margin.



For all three events, the time trials at Kellyville, the Road Race around the 25 mile Green River Lake Course, both on Saturday, and the Criterium meet at Adair County Highs School on Sunday, the Blue Raider cyclists scored 1355 points, more than double the 609 points of the second place University of Wisconsin/Madison, team.

The spectacular victory came just one week after a similar first place win at Murray State University.

LWC Time Trial: Spectators Gathering

A large group of spectators were waiting at the end of the downhill finish of the time trials, the first of three Midwest Conference Cycling events in Adair County. The second was a Green River Road Race, at noon today. The third is a Criterium Race tomorrow on the Adair County Schools Campus, which starts at noon, Sunday, March 7, 2010, at Adair County High School.

Little Cake behind them

We enjoyed supporting their efforts and pushing them on toward their finish. Their hardest challenge was the final hill and longest climb on Little Cake before heading to the finish line. We wish these cyclists the best and hope their journey was a successful one." Wendy Gousha writes. Little Cake Christian Church can be seen in the upper right hand corner behind the cyclists.

Midwest Cycling Conference Criterium meet at ACHS 2010

Yvonne Schumacher, a member of the University of Wisconsin/Madison Cycling Club, was one of the every early arrivals this morning at the Adair County Schools campus. She's a senior Mechanical Engineering student at the prestigious school. It was the second time to visit Kentucky - in less than two weeks. Schumacher's team was runner up in the overal scores for the meet, topping 27 other teams. She was in the state for the Murray State University meet last weekend for a first ever visit. The criterium races start at 9amCT and continue through early this afternoon. Almost all of the .6 mile course is visible from one spot, according to Lindsey Wilson Cycling Coach David Grigsby.
