Obituary: Joe L. Harris, 84, Russell Co., KY

He was a native of Metcalfe Co., KY, and a U.S. Army infantry veteran of World War II, serving in France and Germany. He was a bridge construction engineer and a member of Old Liberty Community Church

Joe L. Harris, 84, Redmon RD, Russell Springs, KY, died Sunday, March 7, 2010, at Medco Center of Campbellsville, KY.

The funeral service will be Wednesday, March 10, 2010, at 10amCT, at Bernard Funeral Home Chapel, 367 Main Street, Russell Springs, KY, with Bro. Barry Lawson the officiating clergy. Burial will be in Campbellsville Memorial Gardens, 3878 Greensburg RD, Campbellsville, KY. Visitation will be after 5pmCT, Tuesday, March 9, 2010, at the Bermard Funeral Home..


Pallbearers will be Jerry D. Roy, Larry Rogers, Troy Young, Tyler Young, Derek Edwards, and Patrick Edwards.

Joe L. Harris, Russell Co., KY (1925-2010)

He was born Tuesday, September 22, 1925, in Metcalfe Co., KY, and died Sunday, March 7, 2010, in Campbellsville, Tayor Co., KY, at the age of 84 years, 5 months, and 13 days.He is survived by his wife, Mavadene Harris, Russell Springs, KY, and the following:
  • Four daughters: Debra (Rick) Edwards, Nelda (russell) Beard, and Tonya (Tony) Young, all of Campbellsville, KY; and Lisa (Mitchell) Land, Louisville, KY

  • Three step daughters: Regena Antle, LaDena McGowan, and Vanessa Antle, all of Russell Springs, KY

  • One brother< Junior Harris, Metcalfe Co., KY

  • Two sisters: Louise Easter, Dickinson, TN; and Louella (Arnold) Cassidy, Edmonton, KY

  • Six grandchildren

  • And three great grandchildren.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served during World War II in France with the 253rd Infantry.

He was a bridge construction engineer and a member of Old Liberty Community Church.

Bernard Funeral Home, Russell Springs, KY, is in charge of arrangements.
