Obituary: Mary J. Beard, 87, formerly of Adair Co., KY

She was a member of a respected Northeast Adair County family. She was a member of Tabernacle Christian Church and was retired after 29 years with Fruit of the Loom

Mary J. Beard, 87, formerly of Adair Co., KY, died Saturday, March 6, 2010, at the Hospice of Hamilton, OH.

The funeral service will be Tuesday, March 9, 2010, at 11amCT, at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home, 200 Campbellsville ST, Columbia, KY, with Bro. Eldon Rucker and Bro. Raymond Martin officiating. Burial will be in Haven Hill Cemetery, 1276 Liberty RD, Columbia, KY. Visitation in will be after 6pmCT, Monday, March 8, 2010., at the funeral home.



Mary J. Beard, 87, formerly of Adair Co., KY (1922-2010)

She was a daughter of the late Marvin and Anna Rae Ellis Simpson, and the widow of Samuel Beard. She was born Friday, October 13, 1922, and died Saturday, March 6, 2010, in Hamilton, Butler Co., OH, at the age of 87 years, 4 months, and 21 days.

She was a member of the Tabernacle Christian Church and was retired from Fruit of the Loom after 29 years.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Linda Faye Beard; a grandson, Larry Todd Rich; and a brother, Gene Simpson.

Survivors include the following:
  • One son and daughter in law: Bobby G. and Nell Beard, Columbia, KY

  • One daughter and son in law: Peggy and Malcolm Rich, Hamilton, OH

  • Two sisters: Cora Damron, Cincinnati, OH; and Virginia and her husband David McCall of Connecticut

  • One brother: Sam Allen Simpson of Iowa

  • Three grandsons: Troy and his wife Angie Beard, Louisville, KY; Chris and his wife April Beard, Columbia, KY; and Barry and his wife Jeanetta Rich of Hamilton, OH
Grissom-Martin Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements

Memorials are suggested to the Barnett's Creek Cemetery Fund, which may be left at the funeral home.
