A Decade of Read Adair County: 2010 a big success!

Read Adair County on Tuesday, March 2, 2010, marked a decade of reading fun with approximately 1,200 'kids' of all ages, children through adults, who joined in the 10th Annual Read Adair County that was held at Adair County Elementary School as part of the national Read Across America event to celebrate the birthday of Dr. Seuss.

This year's community, family read-in for children and their parents, guardians and grandparents celebrated in style with lots of reading rooms with storybook characters reading books and strolling around the school, kids playing bingo for books, making oobleck and ice cream, having their faces painted and eating pizza.

Each child received a goody bag from the Cat in the Hat that included a book and other cool stuff; all in all a fun celebration. This was all followed by the Parade of Storybook characters led by none other than the Cat in the Hat and culminated with the top Accelerated Readers in each school being awarded a medal for outstanding reading.
