By Chris Wells, LWC Sports Information Director

COLUMBIA, KY - Trailing 4-2 in the bottom of the eighth inning with two runners on base, Zach Prichard drilled a home run to give the Lindsey Wilson College baseball team a 5-4 lead that Luis Parra was able to save for the win against Union (KY) College on Wednesday at Lindsey Wilson Park.

Prichard, the first baseman, went 2-for-4 with three RBI and a run scored, while Heath Barnes, Drew Barrett, Max Rhodes and Jeff Murphy all went 2-for-4 at the plate as well. Right fielder Jeremy Toohey and Rhodes each added an RBI.

Union managed just three hits on the day, led by catcher Michael Adams who went 1-for-2 with two RBI, two runs and two walks.

Blue Raider starter Derek Cape pitched 4.0 innings, giving up two runs before being pulled for Jose Castro. Castro struggled as well, giving up two more runs while walking four batters. Then the trio of Lance Rose, Chase Dalton and Luis Parra pitched a shutout over the final three innings to secure the win.

Dalton took the win, his first of the season, with one strikeout, while Parra picked up his first save of the season, facing just one batter in the ninth.

Union used five pitchers as they failed to find an answer to cool Lindsey Wilsons bats late in the game. Koby Hearn was given the loss, dropping him to 1-1 on the season after giving up two runs while facing just three batters.

Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 3pmCT on Saturday, March 6, 2010 against Alice Lloyd (KY) College for a doubleheader at Lindsey Wilson Park, 820 Hanley Lane, Columbia, KY.

The game against Alice Lloyd is a new addition to the schedule as the Blue Raiders will still play Sunday, March 7, 2010, as well, at noon for a doubleheader against Davenport University. The junior varsity doubleheader against the University of Dubuque on Saturday has been moved to a 10amCT start.
