Driver dies following 2-vehicle collision in Monroe Co., KY

Monroe CO, KY - A Fatal Collision occurred at 4:18pmCT, Monday, March 1, 2010, one mile West of Fountain Run on KY 100.A 2000 GMC Pickup operated by James Eldon Veach, age 80, of Fountain Run, who was belted, was traveling Eastbound on KY 100, where Veach attempted to turn left on KY 98, entering the path of a 2008 Kenworth, operated by Aden Unruh, age 24, of Fountain Run, KY.


The Kenworth, traveling Westbound on KY 100, struck the front passenger side of Veachs vehicle.

Veach was taken to Monroe County Medical Center in Tompkinsville, KY, where he was pronounced deceased by Monroe Co. Deputy Coroner Tony High.Veach died of blunt force trauma. No autopsy will be performed.Unruh, the driver of the Kentworth semi, was belted and was not injured.Monroe County Sheriffs Department, Fountain Run Fire Department, Monroe County EMS, and Allen County Sheriffs Department assisted at the scene.
