Letter: In pre-Google earth days,
there was Dr. Randall and Louis DeRossett

About: Ann Curtis aerial photo: Early 60's, Larry Walker says

To ColumbiaMagazine.com

Thanks to Larry Walker and the Old Coddger for their help in identifying more landmarks in the 1960s aerial photo. Their powers of observation are greater than mine, as I was unable to locate Bill Beard or the Waggener brothers in the photo. I did see the Coke bottle and Mrs. Blair's parrot, however.

It was fun to see a little frozen moment of time in Columbia.

Today, with Google Earth and other mapping sites, it's possible to "fly over" any place, anytime, but back when this photo was taken, it was a rare event.

I believe Louis DeRossett and Dr. Randall would be pleased that their efforts are once again being published and appreciated.

Sincerely,
s/Ann Heskamp Curtis

P.S. Did anyone notice the old Columbia Grade School, or at least its circular driveway?
A note on Google Earth: Billy Joe Fudge "flew" on Google Earth down the Green River and on, all the way to Columbus, KY, and the Mississippi River, -EW
