COLUMBIA, KY - A game with 11 ties usually comes down to free-throw shooting and the Lindsey Wilson College women's basketball team came through, hitting 19-of-22 attempts to knock off Georgetown College 61-60 on Saturday at Biggers Sports Center.

Viktoria Krell led the way with 16 points and eight rebounds, including a perfect 6-of-6 mark from the free-throw line. Lindsey Waters added 15 points with 5-of-6 free-throws, while Bethany Spillman tallied 13 points and went 5-for-5 from the line.

Kourtney Tyra paced the Tigers with 17 points, while Emily Drees posted a double-double performance of 10 points and 10 rebounds.

The game was tied 59-59 with 27 seconds to play after Tyra connected on a pair of free throws. Then Lindsey Waters received a pass in the paint, hesitated, then knocked down a five-foot jumper to put the Blue Raiders in the lead for good with 16 seconds on the clock.

Georgetown (17-10, 8-4 MSC) came up empty on its bid to win the game as Mandi Boykin's shot at the buzzer from the corner came up short. At the start of the game, Georgetown came out as the more aggressive team and took an early advantage.

Kourtney Tyra knocked down a 3-pointer and Gina Beining hit a field goal to push Georgetown out to a 5-0 start, before Lindsey Wilson (17-10, 6-6 MSC) went on a 5-0 run to even the score.

From that point on the game was tied five more times until the Blue Raider went ahead by as many as eight points (33-25) in the half on a Bethany Spillman free throw with two minutes to play.

Free-throw shooting was the story of the half for Lindsey Wilson as it hit 11-of-13 shots from the stripe, while Georgetown hit both of its free-throw attempts.

The Tigers rallied in the last minute of the half with Ashley Prince and Emily Drees both connecting on a shot to pull within four (35-31) at the break.

Georgetown's largest lead in the second half was three points on a Tyra 3-pointer with 13:33 on the clock. Lindsey Wilson's largest lead was six, but it was short lived as the game resembled the first half with five more ties.

The Blue Raiders finished the game shooting 36.5 percent from the field and 28.6 percent from three, while Georgetown posted a 42.1 percent clip from the field and 31.8 percent from behind the arc.

Lindsey Wilson Women's Basketball returns to action 6pmCT on Thursday, February 25, 2010, against West Virginia Tech at Biggers Sports Center, 360 Spickard DR, Columbia, KY, on the beautiful campus of Lindsey Wilson College.
