Obituary: Bessie M. Anderson, 83, Russell Springs, KY

She was a member of a large, respected Russell Co., KY family and of the Mt. Calvary Separate Baptist Church. Mrs. Anderson was retired after a career as a mail clerk.

Bessie M. Anderson, 83, Crystal Springs Apartments, Russell Springs, KY, died Wednesday evening, February 17, 2010, at the Ephraim McDowell Medical Center in Danville, KY.

Funeral services will be Saturday, February 20, 2010, at 10amCT, at the Bernard Funeral Home Chapel, 367 Main ST, Russell Springs, KY with Bor. Matthew Dalton, Bro. Jimmy Polston, and Bro. Randy Brown officiating. The Mt. Hope Church Choir and Mt. Calvary Church Choir will render special music. Visitation is 5-8pmCT, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Military Springs Cemetery.


Pallbearers will be Keith Anderson, Joshua Jones, Eric Jones, Brandon Miller, Jeff Helton, Dorris Anderson, Joel Hinkle, and Michael Hinkle.

Bessie M. Anderson, Russell Co., KY (1926-2010)

Bessie M. Anderson was the daughter of the late Milford and Myrtle Cain Polston. She was born Wednesday, March 31, 1926 in Russell Co., KY, and died Wednesday, February 17, 2010, in Danville, Boyle Co., KY, at the age of 83 years, 10 months, and 17 days.

She was the widow of the late Arthur Anderson.

She is survived by the following:
  • Two daughters: Pamela K. Jones, Morristown, TN; and Patsy J. Jones, Dryden, VA; and

  • One son: William Douglas Anderson, Russell Springs, KY

  • Two brothers: Edsel Polston, Somerset, KY; and Richard Polston, Greenfield, IN

  • Seven grandchildren

  • Seven great grandchildren

  • One great great grandchild
Mrs. Anderson was a mail clerk and was a member of the Mt. Calvary Separate Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by four sisters, Elsie Oaks, Thelma LaFavers, Versie Bolin, Dorothy Polston, and one brother, Rova Polston.

Bernard Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
