Judge Melton offers GBBC checklist assistance today

The Big Final Push is now on! it's the last day of the Great Backyard Bird Count. Mighty Columbia, KY is in First Place in the Nation. With everybody's help we will finish No. 1

Adair County Judge Executive Ann Melton has offered assistance for those Adair Countians who do not have computers but would like to help keep Adair County stay No. 1 in the Nation for 2010 in the Great Backyard Bird Count. Her statement reads:
"I am so pleased with all the work all of the local media, the Chamber of Commerce, local busineses, schools, and church groups have done; most of all, I am so impressed by what Barbara Armitage and Wendy Burt and the Adair County Garden Club have done working to bring this very high honor to Columbia and Adair County, KY.

"It appears that if everybody helps, we really can be No. 1. It is so wonderful to be this close to a significant national honor."We in county government are doing what we can to support the efforts of the Adair County Garden Club and all others involved. I hope every citizen will want to do their part.

"As an added incentive, We're printing paper checklists for those Adair Countians who do not have computers. The checklists can be picked up at my office in the Adair Annex at 424 Public Square, today, and be returned to the Adair County Public Library or they can be returned here and we will get them to the Adair County Garden Club to be reported."
Just Melton reminded everyone that there are just a few hours to work on the project. "When I looked this morning," she said, Columbia, KY was in first place and was about 90 checklists ahead of Charlotte, NC. It goes to show what we can do as a community when we all work together."
