Overcorrection a factor in Saturday, Gamaliel, KY crash Passenger airlifted to UL Hospital, Louisville, KY By TFC Billy Gregory, Public Affairs Officer Kentucky State Police Post 15, Columbia, KY Gamaliel, Monroe Co., KY -Trooper Logan Richardson, of Kentucky State Police Post 15, Columbia, KY is investigating a collision that occurred on Fountain Run RD, five miles west of Gamaliel, KY, at 9:25pmCT, Saturday, February 6, 2010. Loyd Britt, Jr., 53, of Glasgow, KY was operating a 2003 Ford Ranger when he failed to negotiate a turn, overcorrected, and struck a tree, causing the vehicle to catch on fire. A passenger, Jonas Powell, 43, of Glasgow, KY, was transported to Monroe County Medical Center, Tompkinsville, KY. Britt was airlifted to UL Hospital, Louisville, KY, for non-life threatening injuries. Seatbelts were in use. Alcohol is believed to be a factor and charges are pending. Trooper Richardson was assisted at the scene by Monroe County Sheriff's Department, Gamaliel Volunteer Fire Department, and Monroe County EMS.
