Ken Page art at Begley Gallery through Feb. 25, 2010 His work shows influence of his formative years in South Central KY Click on headline for full story with photo(s) By Duane Bonifer, LWC Director of Public Relations COLUMBIA, KY - Works by Columbia artist Ken Page are on display through February 25, 2010, at Lindsey Wilson College. The show features paintings and sculptures by the noted Southcentral Kentucky artist. Page's works are featured in the Lucretia C. Begley Art Gallery, which is located in the college's W.W. Slider Humanities Center, 155 Blue Raider DR, Columbia, KY. The exhibit is especially meaningful for Page because it allows him to exhibit his works on the campus where he developed his skills as an artist. Studied under legendary art professor at Lindsey Wilson A graduate of Lindsey Wilson, Page studied under the late Helen Flatt, a legendary art professor who taught at Lindsey Wilson for almost 40 years. Ironically, Page's late paternal grandmother, Effie Lee Page, attended Lindsey Wilson in the 1920s and then later taught Flatt when she was a student at the college. Page spent his formative years in Southcentral Kentucky, and he continues to draw from that experience. His work featured in the Begley Gallery presents a familiar scene combining a rural background with urban living, which gives his sculptures and paintings a unique edge. Page has had multiple selected one-person shows, including: Hansen Gallery in New York City; Closson's Gallery in Cincinnati; Carnegie Art Center in Covington, Ky.; Swearingen Gallery in Louisville, Ky.; Northern Kentucky University; College of Mount St. Joseph in Cincinnati; Lincoln Memorial University in Harrogate, Tenn.; Xavier University in Cincinnati; Nordheim Art Gallery in Covington; and Cathedral Basilica Gallery in Covington. He has also been featured in several selected group shows and selected corporate collections throughout the region. In addition to Lindsey Wilson, Page also earned degrees from Eastern Kentucky University and Northern Kentucky University. The paintings and sculptures of Ken Page are featured through February 25, 2010 in the Lindsey Wilson College Lucretia C. Begley Art Gallery, in the Slider Humanities Center, 155 Blue Raider DR, Columbia, KY. Gallery hours are 8am-4pmCT Monday-Friday.
