Birds are waiting to be counted. Birding 101 is Saturday

Barbara Armitage and Wendy Burt will offer Birding a class on bird identification and attraction at the Adair County Extension Office on Saturday, February 6, 2010, which is open to all. You don't have to live in Adair County, to take part in the program. It's a special effort of the Adair County Garden Club (out of county members are welcome to join this, too) in preparation for the big Great Backyard Bird Count from February 12 through 15, 2010!

I'm waiting for you!

The American Goldfinch accompanying this article doesn't seem to be displaying a great deal of patience. He and his friends are impatiently waiting for the Great Backyard Bird Count coming up February 12-15, 2010.

Don't let him and his feathered friends down. Prepare for the Great Backyard Bird Count by learning to identify the most commonly seen birds in Adair County. The Adair County Garden Club wants to help everyone to participate in the GBBC.

Join life-long bird watching enthusiast Wendy Burt and bird feeder extraordinaire Barbara Armitage on Saturday February 6, 2010, at 10:30amCT at the Adair County Extension Office, 409 Fairground St., Columbia, KY, for Birding 101.

This class has been specifically designed to help even a fledgling birdwatcher become an expert in identifying our fellow feathered Adair Countians. Don't waste bird food and money - learn how to "feed to attract" your favorite birds then put your new found knowledge to work and be a part of the Great Backyard Bird Count.

Learn, have fun, be a part of the world's largest scientific experiment, and help Columbia finish on the 2010 GBBC National Top 10 List.

This free class is brought to you by the Adair County Garden Club and is open to bird lovers of all ages. For more information please call Barbara Armitage at (270) 250-2979.
