Metcalfe County shows sharply better employment for month Jobless rate up for month in Adair, Casey, Cumberland, Green, Taylor and Russell Counties While jobless rates for December 2009 were up in all seven area counties, versus December 2008, Metcalfe County had a much improved jobs market, dropping from having Kentucky's worst jobs picture, with 17.8% joblessness in November 2009, to 14.4% for December 2009. Here's how the December 2009 figures look in the immediate 7-county area, according to the Kentucky Office of Employment and Training:
Year to year comparisons found 119 of Kentucky's counties with higher unemployment. Only Union County in far western Kentucky bucked the trend, with 0.4 percent lower unemployment, at 10.1% for December 2009. This story was posted on 2010-01-29 00:41:34
