Ballinger sends No. 10 CU Women past Lindsey Wilson, 83-67 CU standout has 33 points; Sierra Rambert high for LWC with 18 points, By Dan White, Assistant LWC Sports Information Director COLUMBIA, KY - While the Lindsey Wilson College women's basketball team held a 46-42 lead at halftime, Campbellsville (KY) University's Whitney Ballinger proved to be too much, tallying 33 points and 22 rebounds, to lead the Tigers to an 83-67 win on Thursday, January 21, 2010 at Biggers Sports Center. The Tigers opened the second half on a 6-0 run and Lindsey Wilson never recovered, falling behind by as many as 16 points. Sierra Rambert led the Blue Raiders with 18 points, while Diondra Anthony finished with 14 points, five assists and three rebounds.Backing up Ballinger for the Lady Tigers was Mackenzie Lee with 11 points and Courtney Danis with 10. Lindsey Wilson built its largest lead of 12 with six minutes to play in the first half after a basket by Bethany Spillman put it ahead 35-23. Campbellsville, however, outscored the Blue Raiders 19-11 the rest of the half to trail by just four at the break. After claiming a two-point lead (64-62) with 10 minutes to play in the game, Campbellsville slowly built its way to a 16-point advantage to close the game and claim its 18th win of the season with just one loss. Lindsey Wilson shot 46.0 percent from the field, while Campbellsville shot 56.5 percent. The Lady Tigers outrebounded the Blue Raiders 36-29. This story was posted on 2010-01-22 04:45:44
