Two more candidates have filed today, Thursday, January 21, 2010, for Adair County offices in 2010 elections. They are:
  • Billy Smith, a Republican, filed for the office of Magistrate in District 1 - Little Cake, White Oak, and Eunice-Pellyton precincts
  • James Pierce, Independent, filed for the office of Constable in District 4 - South Columbia #2, Sparksville/Breeding, and Gradyville/Nell Precincts.
There are now six candidates for the Republican nomination for Magistrate in District 1.

A race in the November 2010 General Election is virtually assured with one Democratic candidate, Robby Selch, already filed. Others in the Republican Primary in District 1 are Harold Burton, Donnie G. Curry, Joshua Wes Ellis, Bobby Ray Lee, and Dave Powell.

In the District 4 Constable's race, it is a two-way contest with Republican Chris Janes, challenging incumbent Republican Ed Wigal, for the right to represent the Republican Party in the November 2, 2010 election.

Filings for local offices are made in the office of Adair County Clerk Sheila Blair, 424 Public Square, Columbia, KY. The deadline to file for the May 18, 2010 primary election is January 26, 2010, at 4pmCT.

Offices not subject to a primary have a filing deadline of August 10, 2010, at 4pm. The general election is November 2, 2010 General Election, the very earliest day of November on which the election could be held (first Tuesday after the first Monday in November).
